Brief Summary:
The story is about the romantic relationship between Alex (the first son of the United States) and Prince Henry (the Prince of Wales) and their struggles and courage. What will happen when two superpower countries’ peace and harmony are in question because of this union? Would the world show acceptance to a same-sex relationship even if it is between the two most influential people?
Review:
This book is my first LGBTQ+ read, and I loved it. The book has every element of a perfect romance novel in proper proportion. The witty dialogues, the beautiful locations, and the light-hearted plot make this book a perfect one. Though there are a few cliché moments in the book, the engaging narrative style keeps you hooked to the story. The language used is simple yet captivating. Most of the narrative takes place in the White House and Kensington Palace, while there are a few scenes that include other locations. The contemporary scene setup makes the characters and story so relatable.
My favorite parts are the quotes mentioned in every letter exchanged between Alex and Henry. The emotional turmoil of the characters because of society and the courage they showcase in facing them makes this story laudable. Their unconditional love for each other and the way they express it will make your heart skip a bit every time.
The vivid scene descriptions will make you feel like being teleported to the world of Alex and Henry. The rib-tickling humor balances the tension in the story or any sad moments. The US election details, the Royal Palace architectural details, history of the artifacts in the Royal Museum, and other specifics show the considerable amount of effort the author has put in their research.
I highly recommend this book to all the readers who want to enjoy a good romance novel, while I let the feeling of finishing the book too early sink in. As a hopeless romantic myself, I dig plots where the characters choose love over societal norms, and this book satisfies that desire of mine. However, I would recommend this book to a mature audience because of the frequent use of strong language and erotic scenes (that mainly portray their intense longing for each other).
